Events Preceding the Birth of Nathan

The boys were dropped off at our house at bedtime the night before the big event.
Mom and Nathan got a big hug.

Andrew and Josh were up early, ate breakfast, and were ready to load up by 7 a.m.

Patiently waiting with Grandpa before we knew anything...we were only told that Katie
had been taken back to O.R. and if we would stay around in the hall we would see her before
they would......this was the information given from the nurses in the postpartum area.

A little funny....the shades were down in the nursery and we had been waiting for what
seemed like forever...I kept looking between the blinds for a baby. Finally, I saw one and could only see enough to know there was a baby and I could see his little chin......I could just tell that had to be him....the "chin thing", you know. I went back to the postpartum nurses and said, "I think that is our baby in there, because I recognize the chin.....could you please open the blinds". They said, "if there is a baby in there, it is yours, because she (Katie) is the only one back there". They opened the blinds up and there was the boy's new brother and their Daddy.......what a treat!

Just a brief note to Praise the Lord for answered prayer. Thank you each and every one for checking in and praying. Nathan, Mom & Dad will be home later today. He is beautiful and healthy.

The biggest brother is really proud!

We are thrilled! Nathan arrived at 8:38 a.m. this morning....weighing 8 pounds, 5 1/2 ounces and 19 inches long. He has a little brown hair....does not seem to look like either brother at this point, and is just a beautiful baby with gorgeous dimples...and of course a slight resemblance of the "Osburn" chin. Mother and baby are doing great! I would like to send anyone that may be interested a SmileBox announcement if you will send your e-mail address to me....Stephanie, I particularly thought of you...I don't have your e-mail address. I know there are other friends of Katie's as well. SmileBox does not show up as well on the blog as per email. In the mean time I have about 65 pictures, but okay, I will not post all of them here and now....don't want to wear everyone out. I will post some more soon.

We are full of anticipation, excited, a bit anxious, and some nervousness about the upcoming event Thursday. We will get to meet the new baby in about 36 hours or so. The big brothers are ready, and Katie is very ready. Grandma is beside herself. Craig has been working long hours and I have not seen him, but I know he and his side of the family must be experiencing some of the same emotions. Please pray for Katie's request regarding the spinal block and a safe delivery. Pray for calmness and relief of anxiety for all of us.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God".

"And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4: 6,7

I am feeling better now......scripture always helps.

We know He is with us.

A Little Project

Get your sun glasses.....these glaring white walls are showing.
I started a little project several days ago. Our guest/grandkids bathroom really needed some color, so I started working on it.

Whew, this was a difficult spot and have you ever painted with wallpaper border
on the wall? I love the border and didn't want to remove it, but the walls were
screaming for color.

Actually, the color of the paint is "Ordinary Day". How do they
come up with the many names of paint? I would have expected
Dandy Tan, Smooth Taupe, Satin Beige, Crisp Khaki, or some such...but,

Ordinary Day! Whatever, I love the new look.

I Am So Ashamed

Okay, it all started like this: David came to me last week with a cracker in his mouth and a container in his hand and asked me, "what is this smell"? Ugh, it smelled like paint or turpentine, or some disgusting something. The crackers were obviously, very old. This led me to the pantry and I soon started to toss things out, like a mad woman. It may look crowed in the above picture, but it has been organized. I am so ashamed of being so wasteful. I threw away dozens of boxes of outdated "stuff". I know, all the websites for organization are out there.....I have read them! You know, I buy stuff, even large quantities from Sam's (humm, that could be part of the problem) and don't keep up with moving the things forward that need to be used first. I am great at checking labels when I purchase the item, but time gets away and the first thing you know the "stuff" is outdated. You have probably all received an email or two about someone dying from bacteria in some old food product...yikes, I don't want to make my family or guests sick! I vow to use what I have before buying more. Make a list and check it twice.
Here is a close up of one of the shelves. Notice I have not only cleaned the shelves, and moved and thrown away mega items, but I have labeled the shelves......how organized is that? We shall see how long it stays that way. I am honestly trying to create meals utilizing what I have on hand. Have you checked your cabinets or pantry lately? It might be a real eye opener.
This is my emergency area in case of storms, etc. The electricity is off often here..in fact it was off twice yesterday. I used the flashlight and candles in the early hours of the morning. Flash lights, can opener, batteries, candles, lighter, phone, weather radio, emergency numbers, etc. I might add, my pantry is also a"safe room".

Hey, I am headed to the refrigerator for my next search for "old stuff". Oh, and another good thing came out of this cleaning frenzy.....I am now recycling, and boy--- do I have a load of things to drop off at the recycling center.
