Old, Old Certificate

This certificate was awarded to my daddy in March of 1927.  Daddy will be 92 in November.  I found this among some things, you know those things that accumulate
around the house.  I don't even remember when he or my mom gave it to me, but
I am very glad to have it and I finally framed it to prevent further deterioration.
The Certificate of Award was from the Webbers Falls School District and given out in Muskogee by the County Superintendent  for correctly spelling "One Hundred Lessons".
He was nine years old then and only continued in school until the 8th grade.
His math skills have always amazed me, as well, especially since he did not pass any
of those math skills down to me.....spelling some....math little.  He can
"figure" anything in his head quicker than one can with a calculator.

The other thing about this certificate that amazes me is that we ended up
living in Webbers Falls and our children attended school on the same premises.
I would have never guessed that we would travel in the same path and our children
be raised in Webbers Falls.  You know, you just never know where the Lord will
lead you.

The Swan

David loves gospel music and, well so do I.  So, when we noticed that the Albert E.Brumley Sing was going to be in Missouri we ordered tickets.  We took off to see the many gospel quartets and other groups sing.  It was great, but the bonus for me was Dennis Swanberg.  The Swan as he is often called is a real comic. He labels himself as a Minister of Encouragement....believing in the need for people to laugh and lighten up a bit in this troubled world, he does an excellent job of doing just that.

We had a great time with the exception of the hard, short backed benches to sit on in the convention center in Lebanon, MO.  After the "Swan" did his entertaining, I slipped away to rest my back.  I wandered into the area where all of the groups were selling their DVD's, etc.  Low and behold the Swan was right there before my very eyes.  I picked up some videos to buy and asked if he would autograph one of them,  and he was happy to oblige.  He asked my name and talked a while....hard to do with someone always wanting his attention.  I found him to be hysterical in person in a one to one conversation.  He is also an incredible impersonator. My daughter-in-law Christy gave David one of Swan's DVD's a couple of years ago for Christmas and we have watched it a dozen times and laugh each time like it was the first.

Of course, I thought "picture"......get that cell phone out....so here you have it.

Hey, Sarah Palin doesn't have anything on me.
