Dogs, Cats, and Kids

You may remember the dog below, "Gabby" who was nearly mortally wounded by a pack of coyotes.  She had just moved to the country with her family.  Well, she is my grand-dog and she is all healed up now.  It has been no secret that the stinky,  little bug-eyed dog has not been one of my favorite pet friends.  Sorry Gabby.  So... I went to Texas for a couple of days to be with Gillan and Gracie while their parents left to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary - Happy Anniversary Rudy and Christy.  I took the kids to school the first morning and then I shopped around town a little....not much there.  So, I just went home and spent some time with Gabby - or Grubby, as she is called by David. Poor dog!  We got along...Gabby and me.  I took her out to potty and talked to her, after all I am not totally senile and I couldn't just talk to myself all day.

That evening, Gillan commented that Gabby seemed calmer around me now.  What?  Had I made the dog nervous in past visits?.....Well, it is possible since I growled at her and stomped my feet when I have visited in the past, and told her to get out of my face and that she stinks.  Okay, I admit it...we are sorta friends now.  Look at that face, what is not to love?

Now this is something to howl about....good lord, why do dog eyes turn turquoise instead of  red-eyed from the flash of the camera?  Kind of pretty don't you think?  The color matches Gracie's room, and I am all about matching.  If you can get past the freakishness of it all they are pretty.  Awe!!!
I think she is feeling a little snobbish here.  What do you think?
Below, Gracie tells Gabby goodbye before leaving for school.  This should be titled the many faces of Gabby and Gracie.  Maybe there will be a sequel to this.
After all of that dog and grandchildren entertainment I came home to find this.  The little boys found these kittens in the old shed behind their house. They also found momma cat laying dead beside the babies...oh my, such drama.  One little kitten was given to a good home and the other two....well, they are being nurtured by three little boys.

The boys thought they would be more secure in the bucket together.
And, so goes the dog and feline stories..........
